Foshan, China — August 12, 2022 — Forward-thinking design studio Zyra proudly announces the launch of its groundbreaking furniture series, “Boundaries Recast”, a collection of acrylic-based sculptural objects that blur the boundaries between functionality and contemporary art.

Crafted entirely from transparent acrylic, the pieces feature geometric symmetry, mobility, and a visually compelling interplay of light and space. The collection challenges traditional distinctions between public and private, static and dynamic, utilitarian and ornamental — encouraging users to interact with furniture as both structure and sculpture.

“Our goal was to create objects that sit between categories — not just furniture, and not just art — but something undefined and open to interpretation,” said Mr. Zhang, co-founder of Zyra. “We want users to rethink the way they engage with the spaces around them.”

Co-designed by Mr. Zhang and Mr. Gao, the Foshan-based studio’s founders, Boundaries Recast reflects a design philosophy rooted in ambiguity, flexibility, and user empowerment. The pieces are modular, rotatable, and multi-functional: a side table becomes a magazine rack; a chair shifts its form through movement; a display pedestal can stand alone or in tandem with other units.

The collection was inspired by a year-long urban observation study, in which the designers photographed how individuals occupy and define space in the city. These behavioral fragments informed the narrative logic of the series — where every piece serves as a spatial tool, ready to adapt to personal needs, emotional states, and architectural context.

“We’re not just designing products,” adds Mr. Gao. “We’re building instruments for spatial storytelling.”

Zyra’s Boundaries Recast is more than a furniture collection — it is a manifesto for a new way of living, where users co-author the function, placement, and symbolism of every object they own.
